Everson has always been a bigger baby than Jackson. He went through quite the "chunky money" stage. He was eating all the time, and at times, I didn't think my body could keep up. With Jackson, I read all the books, and was insistent that he didn't start solid foods until 6 months. Well, after talking with the pediatrician, we decided that Everson was just a hungrier baby, and that he could probably handle starting solids a little bit early. He had done great with the rice cereal, and even good with the oatmeal and oatmeal with bananas. Soooo, I resorted back to my go to book....and started him on sweet potatoes! Here was the process:
1. Grocery shop for organic foods. Once home, gather food processor and steaming supplies.

2. Don't forget the baby food bible!

3. And to smile at your precious baby, knowing you are giving them the VERY best!!

4. Steam the veggies or fruits til soft. Then, peel and process. Keep the water from steaming! There are still lots of nutrients that you will use!!

5. When you've mashed them enough, start adding the veggie water to make them the watery consistency of baby food. You'll be surprised at how much water you will add!!

6. I bought these baby food containers from One Step Ahead (love that catalog!)

Next up: Pears

Grand Total for 24 baby food jars: $1.70 for Sweet Potatoes and $1.16 for Pears.
$1.70/24= $.07/jar WOW! $1.16/24= $.05/jar! Compared to $.80, I think that's a steal!!
