Long Day

Today was a really long day. Jackson has had a fever for two days now...and you can tell when he's sick because he does not want to get off the couch. The hard part of all of it is keeping Everson away from him--I do not want a 6 week old with a fever! So today, while Jackson was resting and watching movies, I got toy boxes cleaned out, cabinets cleaned, file cabinets updated, and even some pictures of Ev!

After dinner, we had some scavenger hunters at the door--Jackson thought this was awesome!! He had fun trying to help us get stuff off their list!!

Then, time for baths! Everson got to bathe in the big tub tonight!!

And Daddy got some cute shots of Ev while Mommy was warming him up in his towel...now, back to fighting fevers. Jackson's is 102.1 and Everson's is 99.2...it's going to be a long night...

Diaper Rash

As I mentioned before, the night before I was to go to my ADPi weekend getaway, Everson had the WORST diaper rash! Jackson never had diaper rash--he would get chapped, and we'd use Baby Aquaphor on him, but it was never a fungal rash. Well, Everson's was BAD! Poor baby was miserable! He'd pee, then scream! He'd poo, then scream! We tried Aquaphor for a couple of days--that didn't work. Dr. Smith's Butt Creme--nada. Boudreaux Butt Paste--didn't work either! After taking the advise of mommy friends, I went out and bought 2 more kinds of butt creams for him: A+D and Triple Paste. Friday night, Adam put Everson in a warm bath to soak for a bit, and then we set up the space heater(so he wouldn't freeze!) and laid him on a towel to air out a bit. After MANY coatings of A+D later, by Saturday night he was nearly clear, and by Sunday morning he was all better! Later, Mom told me that A+D was all that worked on me, too, as a baby...told you this kid is just like me!!

So sweet...

Last week, all three of us were hanging out upstairs--I was getting laundry done, checking emails and cleaning out closets. I had just finished putting Ev's clothes away and laid him on his floor to stretch out. I then walked into Jackson's room to hang some clothes and put sheets on his bed, and when I came out of his room, this is what I saw from the hallway! I grabbed the camera and stood super quiet outside Ev's room so I could hear and capture...

Can I hold my baby?

Jackson ALWAYS wants to hold Everson--always! He asks me every time I sit down with him, or nurse him, or go to put him in his car seat. He just wants to help and love on him! So the other day, I let him. All by himself. Honestly, I even ran out of the room to grab an extra CF card for the camera--and by ran, I mean darted and yelled "Hold on to him Jackson! DON'T DROP HIM!" I was out of the room for about .5 seconds...oh, the joy of a second child! You realize they bounce! I wasn't worried at all, and when I sprinted BACK in the room, he was still in his big brother's arms--safe! Good job Jackson!!

Wow, Everson look so big here...bad angle Mommy!!

First Real Bath

As these last few weeks have blurred together, I vaguely remember giving Everson his first "real" bath, although looking at the pictures, I see he still has his umbilical cord, so I guess it doesn't really count as his FIRST bath...but still, he was naked, and cold, and soaked!! And again, Jackson helped--like he does with ALL of Everson's baths...I'm sure Ev is thrilled by that...sorry babydoll, your big bro loves ya!!
Ah, Daddy-O! Not in my EYE!

Everson's Baptism

We could not have asked for a more beautiful day on Sunday! Our sweet baby Everson was baptized after noon mass at St. Mary's by Deacon George. Just after mass, our entire crew met up at the back of the church to change Everson from his cute suit and shoes, into the 100+ year old baptismal gown that Adam's entire family has been baptized in--I think someone said about 75 family members...I'm not sure...we'll have to figure that one out at Christmas time. Either way, it's REALLY old!

Deacon George started us out in the vestibule and welcomed Everson into the church with a song! We then headed to the front of the church to christen Ev with oil at the alter. From there, we were led in song back to the baptismal fount, where he was officially freed of his original sin and brought into the Catholic church! So special!!

We took pictures in the church with the families, and then had a great afternoon at the house with sandwiches (provided by Granmda Patty and Grandpa Doug--thank you!!) and cake and punch (I LOVED the punch that I made: one orange juice concentrate, one lemonade concentrate, 2 cups cranberry cocktail, 1 cup sugar, 1 liter Sprite---yum!!)

Everson slept most of the day! Surprise Surprise! But it's a great feeling knowing that he is blessed and loved...and has many angels watching over him!
