Everson found his thumb! As in, "Look what I can put in my mouth and suck on, Momma! I don't need a bink!" Crap. I heard these words at a baby shower the other day, and it's soooo true: "I can take your bink away from you (at 12 months), I can't take your thumb away from you..." And although it is super cute to see him doing it, I'm going to try my best to prevent it!!

Great Day!
Today was fabulous. I really need to start blogging more about our day-to-day stuff, because it's during the day-to-day that the fun/funny things happen! And Everson is just growing like a weed, and discovering new things, that I'm going to forgot more than half of it. It's a fact. I have a horrible memory.
Yesterday was my "get my shit together" day. I needed to attack the playroom (there were toys everywhere, and it became a catch-all after the holidays...uhhhgg!) and clean out the closets. Everson is now officially in 3-6 month clothes, but closer to the 6 month sizes! It's unreal to me! Jackson was so proportioned....he was small. Everson is just a bigger kid in comparison. I wouldn't say he's a FAT baby, he's just a bigger baby. I fed/feed them the same, so I'm not sure how Ev is that much bigger. We have a friend who's baby girl Caroline is the same age--and she's so tiny! And then there is my football player Ev! It's pretty funny!
So after staying in my jammies all day and cleaning, I finally got out of the house! I dropped Jackson off at school and came home to meet the refrigerator repair man. Yup. Our compressor/compressor blade went out and was making a TERRIBLE noise! And, $205.00 later, I will have a repaired fridge again by tomorrow. Something I've learned after having to get it fixed twice this year--sell fridge with home. DO NOT MOVE!! From moving from the old house to storage, then sitting in storage for 2 months, then storage to new house, it's just not the same!
As soon as the fridge guy left, my friend Paige came by to go to lunch. We headed down to Kemah for a lunch date with the gals (Melissa, baby Caroline, Rachel, baby Sunny, Me, Everson, Paige) at a fabulous Greek restaurant! Soo good! After lunch, it was time to dash and pick Jackson up from school, and take off on our bike riding adventure! I had told him the night before that we would go on a long nature ride, and he didn't forget.
I put the bike and the stroller in the van, picked up my Mom, and we headed over to the Lake to walk. I like walking the path at the lake because I don't have to worry about any cars or Jackson being in the street. He can get a little ways ahead of us, and I don't worry. After our walk, we let Jackson play at the playground for about 20 minutes.
I was dropping Mom off, when Ms Nichole got home, so we sat in the driveway and drank iced tea and held babies and gossiped about the neighbors!
Now, I just got done folding one load of laundry and watching Real housewives! All the boys are in bed...sleeping like babies!!
No pictures today, but I will be getting some tomorrow of Everson and Jackson. I have to get a few shots of Everson in his Jumperoo!! He LOVES LOVES LOVES it!!y!!

Strong Abs!
Everson is hysterical sometimes. One, I cannot get enough of his big sweet smile! Two, he LOVES to sit up, and if you put your hands/fingers over him, he'll grab for them and then pull his chubby legs up, as if to say "I'm ready, sit me up!"

Lunch Date with the Girls
Last week, I needed some girl time. I needed to get out of my house....I needed to be with other mom's. So I called my Mom to see if she wanted to go to lunch with me and my bestest friends, Paige (mommy of 4) and Melissa (mommy of 3) and our entire motley crew! They had just gotten out of Pilates, picked up their kiddos, and met me at the Soup and Salad place. Although all our kids are loud when we get together, they love seeing each other! They just get so excited!
This was also Everson's first official date with his gal pal, Caroline. Caroline and Everson were due 1 day apart, but because I was a repeat c-section, I got to go in a week early. Poor Melissa....I'm sure she was ticked that she had to stay preggers a week longer....I sure as hell would have been!!
Everson and Caroline stared at each other for a bit. Caroline is a perfect, teeny-tiny baby girl! So dainty! And then there's my husky Everson--whom Paige was holding, and could not really keep him still b/c he was trying to "get" to Caroline! Not sure what he would have done with her had he made it over to her, but I'm sure a little slobber and drooling would have occurred!! :) Caroline was just sitting back like "WHAT are you doing?!" It was too cute!
I love getting out and hanging with these girls! Other than my mother, they are my lifeline. Someone once talked about having 2am friends. These are my 2am friends (aside from my mother, of course) Paige is my go to for advise--she's got 4 for goodness sakes! And she's been through it all with her 4! And Melissa is my mommy in the mix--our kids are the same age, we got fat together, we're trying to get skinny again together, and we are tired....very very tired! :)

Bebe Pod and Finding My Toes
Everson is great at holding his head up--actually has been for a while, I'm just now getting around to blogging about it! Yikes! And he LOVES to sit up and look all around! At 3 months, I love the fact that he can "see"--he sees far away and loves movement! He is taking in all kinds of stuff right now and to him, it's all fascinating! I mean, how many times in a day can a kid see his hand and STILL get excited! I love it! Last week, I put Everson in his Bebe Pod so that he could watch Jackson and I play Guess Who. We did the same with Jackson as a baby--his Pod was fabulous on the table so he could sit and "see" what we were doing/eating. He was in it for about 15 minutes and never fussed!
The next day, I put him on the counter next to me while I made PB sandwiches. It was on that counter, in the gleaming sunlight, that Everson found his toes! Yup! Well, it was a little haphazardly...he tipped to one side, looked down, and thought "Hmmm...what are these?!" and then grabbed them, and thought "WOW! They are mine! I can feel that!" At least this is what my mommy brain tells me he's saying....it might sound a little more like "uhhhhbabababbalskdfoierlkj"....

Happy New Year!! 2010!!
This:
is what we did on New Years Eve this year! I know, VERY boring. But after the week we had with sick kids, we were TIRED. We stayed in our jammies all day. We watched Rockin' New Years with Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest. I cleaned out the kitchen cabinets. We did the count down with Everson because Jackson slept through the entire thing!
As soon as the ball dropped, we bundled Ev in the biggest blanket and walked out front to see the neighbors setting off massive fireworks! Ev loved 'em! He was wide awake--and I was holding his ears, but the sound never bothered him! It was a great, relaxing, boring night!
Everson's First Christmas!
Christmas Eve we spent in the same tradition that we have had for 27 years. After taking the kids to the doctor and letting them sleep the entire afternoon, we all got dressed and headed over to GG Jane's for snacks (which is usually meatball sandwiches, but Uncle Bob's family would be in town over the weekend, so they decided to wait til they were all in town) and presents. This year, we drew names for "secret santa" although, in our family, nothing ends up being a secret! Nathan would be working the night that we would be doing secret santa next week, so he brought Jackson's gift for him to open!
Nathan had asked me if there was anything that Jackson needed/wanted for our $25.00 limit. I told him this is just a really fun age to go an wonder Toys R Us and find something that you would think was cool and buy it! So he did!! And these RC Police Car and Mustang were perfect (also considering Nathan is now a Clear Lake Police Officer!) Although I'm not sure at this point who had more fun with them, Jackson, or the rest of the "boys" in the family (including, but not limited to: Nathan, Uncle Russ, Dad, Daddy-O, or Wade!)
All the kids opened their gifts from GG Jane at her house. Jackson got a great kids Sports game (like a Wii for 3 year olds) and when he opened the box, he yelled, "OH!! It's what I WANTED!" And we all just about died, because when I was his age, I would yell, "OH!! It's what I've always wanted!!" Yes, there is video proof of this and yes, it's really annoying! HA! But when Jackson said it, it was super cute! :) He also got some Legos and more R/C cars!
Everson also opened his secret santa gift from Ashley--some adorable outfits! Which, he needed b/c he is just growing like a weed!
He also got an Exersaucer from GG Jane! We had the Jumperoo for Jackson, and I didn't have room at the old house for both the Jumperoo and an Excersaucer in my living room. So, now we have both! We just recently put it together and he LOVES it! More about that later....
After GG's, our family headed to the 4:30 Children's Mass at St. Mary's. It was great! Jackson sat quietly and ate cough drops (ahem! too many, I think!) and watched the kids sing and act out the live nativity scene. It was great!
After mass, we finished up the night at Memaw's house. There, our immediate family exchanged gifts. When I was growing up, we waited and did this AFTER Santa came, but we don't like there anymore, so we do it the night before, so that MY kids have the entire day to play with Santa toys!
We had a BLAST opening gifts! Jackson was a hoot!! We first got the boys changed into their matching Christmas jammies--something that Stacey's kids will someday participate in as well--and did some pictures under the tree with all the presents! Everson did very well being help by his big brother. He didn't scream, he only grimaced a time or two! Jackson did pretty well sitting for 1.2 seconds for photos--he was too excited!!
Then on the presents! Jackson had some great one liners, and that's what I'm going to post here:
We let Aunt Stacey open her gift from us first. Why? Because loud mouth Jackson was chomping at the bit to TELL her what we got her! The SECOND she ripped the first part of the paper, he yelled "IT'S A CROCKPOT!! WE GOT YOU A CROCKPOT!" *first time I nearly peed my pants!*
Then, mom let Jackson open one of his big gifts. As he was opening it, he said "Yup! I was right. It's a box." And walked off to the next gift! HA! *second time I nearly peed my pants!*
Next, Adam and I let Jackson open his gift from "us". I say "us" b/c Adam had wanted to get Jackson something that wasn't from Santa. "Santa" had already done all the Christmas shopping. For everyone. And wrapped it all. For everyone. Alone. And then, Daddy-O asked, "what did we get Jackson?" Hmmmm....I got him LOTS of stuff. Well, he took that in his own way, and went out to buy him something HIMSELF. Fine! Act like you're 12. And so he did! He came home with a wrapped box. Why was it wrapped? Oh, b/c he took it over to my mom's house and had her wrap it! Yup! Okay, I'm done with the ranting!
So Jackson goes to open this BIG box. I have no idea what's in it. Once it's open, Mom and I both say, "OH LOOK! Daddy-O got you Napkins!! That was super nice of him!" Jackson looks at me, looks at mom, and puts his head down. We say nothing. I tell him, "Go tell Daddy-O thank you!" He walks over, gives Adam a big hug, and drags out, "umhmmm....thank you Daddy-O. But....why'd did you get me napkins?!" Kinda politely, but kinda disappointed! Adam says, "We're just kidding, rip open that box!" And so he does....and then scream, with an arm pump: "IT'S A SCOOO--OOOO-TER!!" We had just been at our neighborhood block party, and one of the older boys there had one, and Jackson rode it the entire time! I had thought it was something we would get him for his birthday, but who am I to say! Jackson LOVED it!! :) *third time I nearly peed my pants!*
So then it was Everson's turn to open his gifts. He got some great little things, and then Jackson wanted him to open the gift that HE got him. Mom had taken Jackson out a few weeks back and let him pick out what he wanted for each of us, and had him pay for it all with his own money. He collects money whenever he can. He loves getting $1.00 and lotto tickets, and change, and he keeps it all his wallet (one of Dad's old ones). I was with them when he paid for Adam's gift, and he looked up at MeMaw while she was helping him count, and he said, sadly, "Is she gonna take all my money?" No honey, you still have $45.00 in that wallet. Chill.
I let Jackson wrap Everson's gift all by himself. They had been practicing wrapping in school, and he was so proud to show me. Although, the gift ended up being nearly ALL TAPE, it was wrapped with love! As Jackson is opening the gift for Ev (helping) he says, "Ahhh! It's what he wanted his whole life!" So sweet! But, I reacted by again, nearly peeing myself. Hey, I have a weak bladder after having this second baby! Give me a break!

Finally, Jackson opens his last gift from PaPaw. A remote control Jeep that goes off road. And the entire time he's opening it, he is chanting: "OH...MY....GOSH...OH...MY....GOSH....Wow....Oh my gosh!"
He had a great Christmas Eve. But after all that, and being sick, he was a tired boy! Mom and Stacey came home with me and Everson and Jackson to get the boys to bed, while Daddy-O and Papaw loaded up the rest of our gifts (even the Santa ones) and brought them over about an hour later. When we got home, we sprinkled Reindeer dust on the yard, and put out Milk and Dum Dums (how did I have NO cookies in my house? None! They were all at Memaw's I guess!) We were all in bed by 11:00pm, the rest of the family sent home, and ready to fall asleep, when Everson became VERY fussy and uncomfortable. He was very weazy and full of gas. It was the longest night ever. We took turns staying awake and having him sleep on our chest because we couldn't lay him down. LONG LONG night....
