The Ladies of Women MD

Two weeks ago, I had my final post-op check up at Dr. Taylor's office. At 6 weeks, I was still in alot of pain. If you pushed on my stomach, it hurt. Basically, it was taking me longer to heal than it did with Jackson. I was working out at 5 weeks after Jackson--lifting weights and all. I haven't lifted anything but a cookie since I having Everson...great.

At that appointment, I made it a point to take pictures of all the FABULOUS ladies that I now call my friends: the nurses and support staff at Women MD! They are so wonderful! They supported me through my great pregnancy with Jackson, they were sympathic and sweet during my miscarriage, and the put up with my whiny ass with Everson!!

The ladies in the front are great!! Marcia (the one holding Everson) could seriously be part of our family, we love her that much!! I always looked forward to seeing her smiling face! And I can't WAIT for her to be a grandma--I pray for it often!

The sweetest and coolest ultrasound technician around--Rosio! She is a doll!! I didn't get to see her as often as I would have liked, b/c I was at Dr. Rowe's office alot with this one. She apologized to Everson when she met him the first time for poking him while he was still in my tummy! HA! :)
The greatest nurses--ShaMYRA ( we call her Myra) was my main nurse (the one holding Everson). She LOVES my Jackson--she thinks his is so cool! And she ALWAYS gave him a dum dum, so that made her his fav too!!

And finally, Dr. Taylor! She's brought both my miracles into this world, and made my incisions nearly invisible!! YAY!! HA! She's wonderful!!

I'm going to miss seeing them once a month....Thankfully, at 8 weeks, I'm feeling much better!

2 months old

I can't believe that it's been 2 whole months...and I can't believe that I am STILL so in LOVE with another baby boy! I'm truly in awe of this child. With Jackson, I was still learning to be a mother. This time around, I'm savoring being a mother. I'm savoring every moment, because I know this is my last one. And I'm sad about it. The funny thing, after all that pain and complete hell this pregnancy was, seeing the love that came from all of that, and the amazing little creature that caused all that misery....how could I have ever think that it was not all worth it!

And two months later, I have a happy, healthy, baby boy who is the spitting image of me. All the way down to his Carroll birth mark! I have a Carroll birthmark on my hip--a brown splotch. My mom has one on her backside, my sister has her's on her back, my uncle has his on his back, Jackson has his on his hand, and they all came from my grandpa Joe Carroll--one of Everson's namesakes (both my grandpa's are Joseph)

Today we REALLY marked the 2 months with his 2 month well baby checkup. I was anxious to see how big my little man really was--he's not BIG, he's just bigger than Jackson was! He's in 3-6 month clothes already!

Well, he's in the 50th %tile for nearly everything! He weighs 12 lbs 1 oz, 24 inches long, head circumference of 15.5cm. Weight: 50-75th %tile Height: 25-50th %tile Head: 10-25th %tile

Before Dr. Perona came in, Everson spent some time flirting with his MeMaw. Daddy couldn't get out of the office, so MeMaw went along for moral support during the shots--I hate shots. Hands down. Hate them! And, MeMaw likes to see Marissa (Dr. Perona). They used to be neighbors...so they sit and gossip about the happenings on Misty Shore!

Thank You Aunt Rickie for the World's Softest Blankey!!

Dr. Perona said he looks great! She loves his color, she loves that he looks just like me, she loves his personliaty, and she loves that he's a healthy baby boy! After she saw him, we had the dreaded shots....

My poor baby! I've NEVER heard him cry. NEVER saw real tears...and today, I did. He cried with the first shot...screamed with the second...and WHALED uncontrollably with the 3rd! BIG tears! And the type of crying that rocks you to the core! He slept the entire ride home...I nursed him when I got home and massaged his legs...then he became restless and squirmy! And completely uncomfortable! And the rest of the afternoon, he had random fits of extreme pain. I was on the phone with my sister in law during one of these fits, and seriously, could not calm him down. He was sooo sad!

But as of right now, at 9:30pm, he's content. He smiled a bit before he conked out, so that's a good sign! I hope he sleeps well tonight; it's been a rough day....

Brotherly Love

I was putting Jackson to bed the other night, and Everson's Eddie Bauer bed was still set up from our slumber party. I had set Everson in it so that I could get Jackson's jammies, and when I turned around, Jackson was in the bed WITH him! I grabbed the camera! Jackson was so sweet with Ev--and Ev seemed to be so happy that Jackson was laying with him!! He really adores his big brother--he smiles when he looks at him and tracks him when he walks to him or away from him! Tooo cute!! Jackson even handed him his snowman to sleep with, since, you know, he had that fabulous Build a Bear moose!

Hangin with Daddy

Everson Joseph Babcock....7 weeks old

Everson is the happiest baby! He seriously melts my heart. I never get tired just staring at him...he is always staring up at me as if I'm the most beautiful girl in the world...I love it!! And to look down at him with those big dark eyes, without fail, he'll look right back up an you and smile, a sweet sweet smile, as if he's so happy to see you again (even if only 2 minutes has passed!) Tooo sweet!! I find myself saying "Hiiii!! Hiiiii baby!" alot.

I had him in his bouncer the other night...very late at night...while I was folding laundry...and he was happy...until I got the camera out...and his sweet sweet smiles that I was trying to capture, turned into a confused "hey..."

The other night, Everson was staring and admiring his Daddy-O, just like he does to with me daily. And I got some pictures of it....

Pictures with Santa

Our "Picture Day with Santa" started off rough. Mommy's brain is a little fried on most days...really. Unless I get up before the boys to take my shower and get myself organized, I might as well just stay in my jammies and eat bon bons. On Tuesday night, I told Jackson that we would be getting up in the morning and going to get our pictures taken with Santa! His school hired a photographer to come in and all proceeds go to the school! I thought "I'd rather give my money to HH than to the mall Santa, so sure! Why not?!" Mom and I went out and got the boys matching outfits--the ONLY thing we could find that came in a 3 mo. and a 3T.

So Wednesday morning, we get up...late. I'm already running behind. I called Mom to come over and we would take the boys to Santa, and then go have lunch. We get the boys in the car, in the blistering cold wind, order form in hand, and go up to the school. We get there (a block later) and notice that there are no cars in the parking lot...strange....we get to the room where they are shooting and there are no people and no lights...strange....so we sit down and decide to wait about 10 minutes. It was at THIS point I decided to READ the order form; at the top, it states (in bold and underlined): Prepaid orders are required for Santa. SHIT......

At this point, Jackson is so excited to see Santa, that when I tell him that he's not here and that he went back to the North Pole for lunch, he starts crying. So, Memaw tells him that he is going to be back in a little bit, but he'll be at the MALL this time, and we are going to go have lunch and then see Santa! All is right with the world again...although, we hear " I wanna see Santa!" the entire car ride to the mall.

Once at Santa, we are super excited b/c we are the first in line. The bad part:
(insert cheese infomercial voice here) Santa has teamed up with Shutterfly this year and your grand total for a picture of Santa on a disc is $32. Holy freakin cow! BUT, as an added bonus, you get $20 toward your purchase at Shutterfly, but it expires on the 31st, so use it FAST!

And even though Jackson's upper lip is SUPER chapped and red, and even though Everson looks like the Michelin man in his sweater suit, we took the damn picture. And then Mommy needed a nap...seriously...and maybe a few shots of Vodka....Merry freaking Christmas....

We're going to try and have a jolly ol' day at Breakfast with Santa at Boeing on Saturday and hopefully make better memories then!

But it gets better...why? Because we got to go to Build a Bear and make a Holiday Moose!! We got a $5.00 off coupon from Santa (wow!! apparently he teamed up with Build a Bear too--he's quite the entrepreneur, don't you think?!) and of course, they mention B-a-B and it happens to be on our walk out of the mall....

So Jackson gets a Moose. And it's cute. And it's antlers light up with Christmas lights. And he stuffs it, and they add a song (Jingle Bell Rock) for $1.00 more...and we go to check out...and Memaw find a hole in the Moose that is not supposed to be there. SOOOOO, we start the process all over again! I'm telling ya, our day was FABULOUS!!

I can't even remember the rest of the day.....it's all a tiresome blur....

Yay! for Ev!!

We've been laying Everson on his play mat at night and getting him to reach for things and swat at things...well, this night, Jackson wanted to "help" him. And he was so cute with Everson! Each time Ev would hit the ball with his spaztic arms, Jackson would say "YAY for Ev!! Good job buddy!" Which, apparently, is exactly how I talk to baby Ev!

Long Day

Today was a really long day. Jackson has had a fever for two days now...and you can tell when he's sick because he does not want to get off the couch. The hard part of all of it is keeping Everson away from him--I do not want a 6 week old with a fever! So today, while Jackson was resting and watching movies, I got toy boxes cleaned out, cabinets cleaned, file cabinets updated, and even some pictures of Ev!

After dinner, we had some scavenger hunters at the door--Jackson thought this was awesome!! He had fun trying to help us get stuff off their list!!

Then, time for baths! Everson got to bathe in the big tub tonight!!

And Daddy got some cute shots of Ev while Mommy was warming him up in his towel...now, back to fighting fevers. Jackson's is 102.1 and Everson's is 99.2...it's going to be a long night...

Diaper Rash

As I mentioned before, the night before I was to go to my ADPi weekend getaway, Everson had the WORST diaper rash! Jackson never had diaper rash--he would get chapped, and we'd use Baby Aquaphor on him, but it was never a fungal rash. Well, Everson's was BAD! Poor baby was miserable! He'd pee, then scream! He'd poo, then scream! We tried Aquaphor for a couple of days--that didn't work. Dr. Smith's Butt Creme--nada. Boudreaux Butt Paste--didn't work either! After taking the advise of mommy friends, I went out and bought 2 more kinds of butt creams for him: A+D and Triple Paste. Friday night, Adam put Everson in a warm bath to soak for a bit, and then we set up the space heater(so he wouldn't freeze!) and laid him on a towel to air out a bit. After MANY coatings of A+D later, by Saturday night he was nearly clear, and by Sunday morning he was all better! Later, Mom told me that A+D was all that worked on me, too, as a baby...told you this kid is just like me!!

So sweet...

Last week, all three of us were hanging out upstairs--I was getting laundry done, checking emails and cleaning out closets. I had just finished putting Ev's clothes away and laid him on his floor to stretch out. I then walked into Jackson's room to hang some clothes and put sheets on his bed, and when I came out of his room, this is what I saw from the hallway! I grabbed the camera and stood super quiet outside Ev's room so I could hear and capture...
